It may have been the day when I turned closer to 30 but my 25th Birthday could not have been any better.

Some weeks ago I gave Jamie and Jason the job of giving me a Birthday “of complete surprise”. In other words I was too lazy to plan anything and, if I am being honest, celebrating getting a day older didn’t really inspire me too much.

Well, what we did from the moment I woke up to the moment I went to bed was just perfect

Surprise 1 : - I was collected from the hotel and taken on a guided tour in a Suzuki Jeep. Pure class is all I can say.

Surprise 2 : - After a short stop and the boys disappearing for 20 minutes, during which time I went for a stroll around the shops, on my return to the car park where I left them were none other than Matt and Caley sitting proudly in the jeep complete with an Orangutan chain (I love Orangutans - it’s far more than love let me tell you!).  A truly great surprise as I thought we had seen the last of them having said our ‘goodbye’s’ two days earlier in Koh Tao.

Surprise 3 : - A really enjoyable drive around the Island in the jeep ending in a splendid visit to a local waterfall

Surprise 4 : - It started to rain after a boiling hot start (I don’t THINK the boys planned this but it was very refreshing!)

Surprise 5 : - For our evening nightwear the boys had specially printed t-shirts made for my grand old day. The pictures will do them justice but to explain they had a logo on them, complete with words wishing me all the best as well a classic phrase which I have adopted in the last few weeks - ‘Kum Guchi’. A made up phrase meaning thankyou and showing generally satisfaction - don’t ask as I do not know why but the locals seem to love it.

Surprise 6 : - I was treated to a fantastic meal at Dining on the Rocks, a beautifully set resort set literally on the rocks next to the ocean where the staff sang Happy Birthday to me (thanks for organising that Jason - completely embarrassing but cool nevertheless.)

Surprise 7 : - During our night out of sampling the different brands of local water I was standing on the stage at a local Irish Pub with the band singing Happy Birthday to me again (thanks again Jason)

The boys did me very proud as did Jenna, Caley and Matt, for which their presence made the day even more special.

It really was a great day, full of surprises and a Birthday I will never forget - my 25th on the Island of Koh Samui, Thailand.
