***UPDATE*** In my rather tired, non-energetic state last night I forgot to mention a key part of our day.

On arrival in Xi`an we decided to go to a recommended massage parlour around the corner from the hostel for some essential tender loving care.

On reflection it was something well worth the pennies spent (it was very cheap at just 3 GBP!).

Our backs had elbows impeded into them, which all four didn’t enjoy too much although felt the benefit afterwards, Jaytona and I found the foot massage rather ticklish, Pesky seemed to enjoy it all whilst Dirty Dog wants to go back for more!

Oh, one more thing. The post below is my opinion of the Dam, despite it being written in third person so if the others think differently I am sure they will let you know in due course!! In fact, perhaps Pesky, when building the site, should have put a disclaimer at the bottom along the lines of - “Please understand that the views on this website may be spelt incorrectly on occasions, posts may be of the blushing nature, the opinions are those of the poster and, above everything, all contents is either fact, humour or tongue in cheek. Following on from the Kung Fu heroics performed by Jaytona, Dirty Dog and Pesky, it was a 12 hour train journey on Friday to the town of Yichang and a visit to the Three Gorges Dam.

On arrival early Saturday morning, the four of us, tired, starving and in need of a hot shower (the last two hostels/hotels/schools have only had cold H2O!).

The boys settled down to a meal in a nearby hotel restaurant, which turned out to be the same place they stayed, before a hot shower and a taxi ride for 40 RMB (2.75 GBP) to the Dam. Bargain, we thought.

Well, D.T.A (Don’t Trust Anyone!).

The taxi driver drove us to a local tour centre where it cost us another 175 RMB (13 GBP) EACH for a 40 minute ride to the Dam. Sadly it did not warrant such a fee, although the ride was pleasant. The images did not quite correspond to those seen in a free Independent newspaper pull out flashed to us by Jaytona some weeks ago, although it is something we can say we have seen, at least! (Not Jason’s fault, I might add although the Independent might need to answer some questions - sniff, sniff!)

After 24 hours in Yichang it was another train ride on Sunday , this time 16 hours (they are getting longer!), to Xi`an.

Our first day (Monday) in this historical city, the home to the Terracotta Army and Bell Tower, involved much rest, food, sugary drinks and a few games of table tennis. Sadly the rain has halted a few plans but a trip to see some Panda’s at 8.30 a.m. on Tuesday awaits.
