Diary of a Kung Fu dropout
Posted by: Jamie AKA PeskyFor those of you who know me, the thought of the lazy computer geek doing Kung Fu probably has you raising an eyebrow or two. Well for one day, and one day only, I shook off the cobwebs and joined Jason and Paul in a gruelling 6 hour day of stretching, running, punching, kicking, and most definitely sweating.
I have never hurt so much. Being the most inflexible man in the world, it was particularly hard to “clap” my hands against my feet in midair, but I gave it a good try. It was also amusing that he expected us to go from a kick into the splits, as if we’d done it hundred’s of times before. My flying roundhouse kick also needs work.
Top all this off with a cold shower (hot water has been a rare commodity for the last week or so) and my body hurt. Needless to say, 1 day of Kung Fu was my limit. While the other 2 dragged themselves into a second day of pain, I joined Jay in a day of rest.
Being a Kung Fu dropout is tough work, and 1 day of rest quickly turned into 2. While Jay and myself perfected our sleeping, the other 2 boys set out on a hike of epic proportions. However, on seeing their amazing photos I was truly inspired and decided to attempt a similar trek the next day, utilising the highest cable car I have ever seen to get to the top of the first peak (the boys hiked this bit as well).
The views were absolutely breathtaking, rivalling the great wall scenery in terms of grandure, and the photos just don’t do it justice.
All the photos will be uploaded soon, but my camera just ran out of battery so unfortunately I can’t do it just yet. We’re off to Yichang tonight, home of the 3 gorges damn, the biggest damn in the world!

Another great read. (For those who don’t know, these guys all went to the same senior school). I’m sure Annette will be very proud of your physical efforts.
A great read Jamie. tell Jay to get his fingers typing !!!!!!!
Well done Jamie for your physical efforts, safe journey.
I have just looked at the photos from your Kung Fu training and I can see how hard you have been working, amazing. Well done, I bet you were hungry after that!
The Lobermans were never that sporty, Jamie. Bowling is about their limit I think and much easier on the body!!
