Rain Gain

Posted by: Jay AKA SugarDaddy

I thought I would bring all you TripRoast addicts up-to-date with the latest events of our epic journey.

Tuesday started at 8.30 am for the four of us with a tour to the Panda rescue centre (photos online now) and it was a great morning out which ended with a rather delicious lunch to help recharge the batteries.

The evening was spent at the nearby Big Goose Pagoda, a well-preserved ancient building and a holy place for Buddhists, where the surrounding square is surrounded by the most amazing lit up fountain demonstration backed up by some quite superb music.  People even run into the vertical water springs on the square and we are all thinking of returning with a pair of swimming trunks and a towel in hand!  Oh and their is a finnnne dumpling restaurant near by that may need another visit too, although with a train booked for this Thursday to Vietnam (via a couple of stops first!) I doubt we will have time.

Today (Wednesday) was a wet one in terms of the weather with the rain pouring down for much of the day.  However, it was going to take more than that to stop us and a pleasant walk around the Muslim quarters in Xi`an, followed by a great lunch/dinner, a coffee in Starbucks (sorry, we succumbed to Americanisation as we were wet and in need of a hot drink!) and a lengthy discussion about topics from tax, religion, school uniform, the responsibility of pubs and binge drinking, the law and the rain, we decided to head back to the Hostel for a few drinks before heading out to a local club named One plus One.  Many more stories to follow after that I am sure.

It’s off to get ready.

From rainy Xi`an it’s over and out.

I’m interested to know does a Starbuck’s cost as much there as here? No mention of the Terracotta Army - isn’t that why you went to Xi’an?
Jason & Jay - you are going to have to translate for us the message on the message board about “joining your kok”!!!!

  3. GravatarShortly after that, Mum - Sugy screamed

Hi Jay, enjoy the Terracotta Army, have you seen the message on the board, from Eve? very interesting:)

  4. Gravatar9 days after that, Andy blurted

    Jay,

    Hope you’re enjoying the trip.

I’ll keep you posted on any gossip at the Bee’s
